Use of "notmuch count" in notmuch-hello.el

Is there a difference?  I thought there was a big discussion at some
point about how they now behave exactly the same:

0 servo:~ $ notmuch count
72081
0 servo:~ $ notmuch count '*'
72081
0 servo:~ $ 

which I think is actually good expected behavior.
